Handley 35, Bullock County 0

The Handley Tigers stuck it to the Bullock County Hornets at Wright Field Friday night, winning 35-0.

Handley quarterback Darius Finley scored the Tigers’ first points with a 3-yard touchdown run with 5:59 left in the first quarter.

Finley scored again on an 18-yard dash with 10:00 left to play in the first quarter. Shaquille Trammell ran in the 2-point conversion to make the score 14-0.

Trammell added another touchdown with a 2-yard run with 6:33 left in the second quarter. Austin Fetner’s point after was good.

With 6:09 left in the third quarter, Ladarrious Phillips rumbled into the endzone for a 5-yard touchdown. Fetner was good to make the score 28-0.

Handley’s final touchdown came courtesy of a 19-yard touchdown run from Trey Dunson with 2:04 left in the fourth quarter.

Randolph County 20, Winterboro 16

The Randolph County Tigers held off a late charge from the Winterboro Bulldogs to pull out a 20-16 win at home.

Dwayne Childs scored the Tigers first touchdown on a 60-plus-yard run on the Tigers’ first offensive series.

Quarterback Drew Benefield ran the next one in from about 30-yards out in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.

Childs scored again from 15-yards out in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 20-0 lead.

Winterboro put up 16 points in the fourth quarter, but Randolph County held on for the win.

Bowdon 38, Woodland 12

Woodland struggled to overcome mistakes as the Bobcats fell to Bowdon, Ga. 38-12 in the season opener in Bowdon.

Horseshoe Bend 29, Wadley 19

The home team Wadley Bulldogs put up a valiant fight against the Horseshoe Bend Generals Thursday night in Wadley, but fell 29-19.

Skylar Humphries put up Wadley’s first points with a field goal at the 5:45 mark of the first quarter.

Horseshoe Bend scored on a 13-yard run with 2:44 left in the first quarter. The point after was good giving the Generals a 7-3 lead.

Ryan Siskey hit Wesley Johnson for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 11:14 to play in the second quarter. Humphries’ extra point was good, putting Wadley on top 10-7.

The Generals scored on a 4-yard pass with 7:42 left in the second quarter to pull ahead again 13-10.

Wadley’s Jake Overton returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown with 2:55 left in the second quarter. Humphries was good on the extra point giving Wadley a 17-13 lead.

Horseshoe Bend returned the ensuing kickoff back 70-plus-yards for touchdown with 2:39 left in the second quarter and with a 2-point conversion, the Generals led 21-17 at the half.

The Wadley defense stuffed Horseshoe Bend in their own endzone for a safety with 5:07 left in the third quarter.

Horseshoe Bend put its final points on the board with a 9-yard touchdown run with 10:54 left in the fourth quarter. The 2-point try was successful making the final 29-19 in favor of the Generals.
