William Smith

(WOODLAND) Graveside services for William Smith, 83, of Woodland will be Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Napoleon Church of Christ Cemetery with Allan Daniel officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

Mr. Smith died Monday, July 20, at Regional Medical Center of Anniston.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Iona Willingham Smith of Woodland; one daughter, Sheri Richardson of Woodland; four sons, William Smith Jr. of Eatonton, Ga., Johnny Ray Smith and Larry Smith of Tampa, Fla., and Greg Smith of Maine; one stepson, Jackie Sheppard of Tampa; 14 grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Smith was born July 13, 1926, son of Thomas J. and Alta Stokes Smith. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, had been a truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents. Flowers will be accepted or donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
