James Arthur ‘Pooky’ Battle

(WADLEY) James Arthur “Pooky” Battle, 46, a resident of Cooledge Street, Wadley, died at his residence on Friday, July 17, 2009.

Services for Mr. Battle will be Saturday, July 25, at 1 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church, Nelson Glen Road, Wadley, with the pastor, Rev. Sanders Higgins, officiating and burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Public viewing and visitation will be Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mr. Battle was born Aug. 23, 1962, to Arthur and Marva Jean McLain Battle in Wadley. He joined County Line Baptist Church at an early age. Mr. Battle graduated from Wadley High School and joined the Alabama National Guard, where he proudly served for 26 years, retiring in November 2005. He was also a dedicated employee of Plantation Patterns for more than 20 years.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother, Marva Jean McLain Battle of Wadley; his father, Arthur Battle of Atlanta; his great-grandmother, Zula Battle of Wadley; his son, Tamarcus Battle of Wadley; his brother, Darrell Battle of Atlanta; two sisters, Bonnie Purvis and Clarice McLain of Wadley; a grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
