Catherine Luverne Easter Shields

(PELL CITY) Catherine Luverne Easter Shields, 80, of Golden Living Center in Pell City, formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008.

Mrs. Shields was born in Pratt City to Conley and Rennie Baker Easter. She was employed by the Veterans Administration Hospital and Birmingham-Southern College prior to retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Shields. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Bishop of Ronaoke; two sons, Thomas G. Shields of Pell City and James W. Shields Jr. of Center Point; eight grandchildren; 11-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Lakeside Hospice, P.O. Box 544, Pell City, AL 35125. The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 5, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Services will be Monday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
