Laska Rice

(WEDOWEE) Services for Laska Rice, 93, of Wedowee will be Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Corky Addison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mrs. Rice died Tuesday, May 20, at her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Stanley and Janice Flournoy; two sons, Harold Rice and Jerry Rice; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Rice Jr., Chuck Rice, Keith Stanley, Tim Stanley, Todd Stanley and David Nolen. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons and the Swagg Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Rice was born July 6, 1914, daughter of Lonnie and Della Brown White. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and program assistant for the Auburn Extension Service. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Luther Rice; an infant son; her parents; and three brothers, Paschal, Braska and Coleman White. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2451 Co. Rd. 32, Wedowee, AL 36278.
