Dessie Simpson Dodgen

(ROANOKE) Services for Dessie Simpson Dodgen, 89, of Roanoke will be Monday, May 19, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Fitzgerald Brown and Billy Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Mrs. Dodgen died May 16 at Hospice LaGrange.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Boggs of Roanoke and Polly Williams of Eufaula; one son, Gene Dodgen of Belle Glade, Fla.; one sister, Kate Grant of LaGrange, Ga.; two brothers, Eurice and Jim Simpson, both of LaGrange; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Dodge, Russ Echols, Kevin Box, Robbie Robertson, Dale Lovvorn and Chuck Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicky Simpson, Stanley Simpson, Lindsey Stevenson, Tommy Fincher, Tim Hall, Bill Vinson and Todd Williams.

Mrs. Dodgen was born Oct. 5, 1918, daughter of J.W. and Kattie Cofield Simpson. She has been a textile winder for Roanoke Mills. Her parents preceded Mrs. Dodgen in death.
