Dr. Robert B. Quattlebaum Jr.
(SAVANNAH, Ga.) Dr. Robert B. Quattlebaum Jr., 73, of Savannah, Ga., died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Candler Hospital.
He was born Robert Baskin Quattlebaum Jr., son of Lucy Mathews and Robert B. “Robyn” Quattlebaum Sr. on March 6, 1933, in Roanoke. He graduated from Taft Prep School in Watertown, Conn., and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, then served in the Air Force for two years. He then graduated from the University of Alabama Medical School in 1961 and served a seven-year residency in general surgery and urology at UAB. He moved to Savannah in 1967 and opened his private practice as a solo physician. He practiced until his retirement in 2003.
He was president of the Georgia Medical Society and Georgia Urological Society and both treasurer and president of the Southeastern Section of the American Urology Association. He was currently serving as a board member of the Coastal Gardens and Bamboo Farms and recently raised more money in their city-wide membership drive than anyone. He was also a graduate of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners Program and was an active member of the Coastal Master Gardeners Association. He was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church since 1972, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fall Binford Quattlebaum; his children, Robert Baskin “Robyn” Quattlebaum III, Jane Fall Quattlebaum, Blake Binford Quattlebaum, George Wilkins Quattlebaum and Elizabeth Ann “Biza” Quattlebaum Mabry; seven grandchildren; a son-in-law and several daughters-in-law.

Services will be Thursday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. at Isle of hope United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the church social hall.
