Josephine S. Murray

(HEFLIN) Graveside services for Josephine S. Murray, 89, of Heflin will be Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Pinetucky Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John D. Collins and the Rev. Keith Raisanen officiating.

Mrs. Murray died Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, Anniston.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home.

Mrs. Murray is survived by two daughters, Janet Nelson and Shelia Loomis of Heflin; one stepdaughter, Jeran Foster; two sons, John Porteous and Tim Porteous of Heflin; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tim Loomis, Tim Porteous, Bob Porteous, Joey Porteous, Bob Eagleston and Doug Porteous.

Mrs. Murray was born Jan. 2, 1916, daughter of Fred and Caroline Bock Kruger. She was of the protestant faith and a housewife. Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry J. Murray; one son, George Dean Porteous Jr.; one grandson, John J. Porteous Jr.; and one great-grandson, Joseph L. Craig.
