James Carie Veal
(ROANOKE) Services for James Carie Veal, 75, of Roanoke, formerly of LaGrange, Ga., were Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Stoney Halsey officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Cemeter in LaGrange.
Mr. Veal died Friday, Feb. 4, at Traylor Nursing Home, Roanoke.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Udine Noles Veal of Roanoke; two sons, Virgil Owen Veal of Roanoke and Mike Veal of LaGrange; three sisters, Florence Chase and Libby Lowry of Roanoke and Betty Miller of Brillant; one brother, Junior Veal of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Freedie Koone, Randy Nation, Mike Alsobrook, Ricky Veal, Larry Wilson, Jim Brown, Danny Phillips and Jeff Veal.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Veal was born Jan. 20, 1930, son of Luther and Minnie Pearl Brown Veal. He was of the Baptist faith and a former beamer operator for West Point Pepperell. Mr. Veal was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
