Raymond T. Slagle
(NEW MARKET, Md.) Major Raymond Thomas Slagle, 42, of New Market, Md., a former resident of LaGrange, Ga., died Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Major Slagle was born Jan. 18, 1966, son of Thomas and Syble Slagle. He distinguished himself by meritorious service throughout his 24-year army career from Jan. 19, 1984 through March 3, 2008, including his most recent assignment as the Soldier Training Support Program manager at the Pentagon. As the executive officer, he received a number of accolades for his leadership and dedication, including the Legion of Merit award. He was a member of Northside Community Church in Monrovia, Md.
Major Slagle is survived by his parents, Tom and Sibyl Slagle of LaGrange; his grandmother, Ruth Slagle of Roanoke; one daughter, Victoria Slagle of LaGrange; his wife, Regia, and her children, Isis and Alexander of New Market; one brother, Larry Slagle of Morrisville, N.C.; one niece and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be at Lowe-Hanks Funeral Home Chapel in Hileah, Fla., on Thursday, March 27, with interment in Vista Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in LaGrange, Ga.
