Four charged with meth-making
SAXON CROSSROADS—Four people were arrested on Monday afternoon, caught in the act of allegedly making methamphetamine.
The arrests were made by Randolph County Narcotics Unit at 1336 County Rd. 105 in the Saxon Crossroads area, northeast of Woodland.
Those charged are: David R. Thrower, 45, of the residence; Hank Eugene Williams, 37, of Bowdon, Ga., Marie Dempsey, 35, and her son, Fantasia Sean Dempsey, 18, both of 1330 County Rd. 105, Woodland. All are charged with first-degree manufacture of methamphetamine and trafficking methamphetamine. Ms. Dempsey is additionally charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, along with having outstanding charges in Georgia.
After having complaints about suspected drug activity in the area, RCNU officers found the four in the act of cooking the meth in a shed that is attached to the back of the residence. The Drug Enforcement Agency clean-up crew from Birmingham came to dispose of the drugs.
The suspects were transported to Randolph County Jail, where they remain on $150,000 bond.
Update
Regarding last week’s story about the methamphetamine arrests on County Road 133, Wedowee.
According to RCNU, there should be no danger to the children at the day care center located next door. All of the drugs were removed from the residence. The other items found were just the ingredients and do not pose a danger by themselves.
In a correction to last week’s article, the two arrested in connection to that crank lab, Juan Lewis King and April Price, are not boyfriend and girlfriend, just roommates.
