Tanner awaits DOT approval for work

Tanner Health System is awaiting approvals from the Alabama Department of Transportation to ensure that the Tanner/East Alabama project meets DOT specifications.

Tanner has prepared all the right-of-way easements and designs necessary to continue, and the designs have been submitted to the state for review and approval.

Tanner also is working with the contractor, J&R Construction and Development, to refine plans for patient flow and to finalize the project’s budget.

“Once we receive approval from the DOT and work out interior design and pricing with the contractor, folks in the area will begin seeing a lot more activity at the Tanner/East Alabama site on South Main Street in Wedowee,” said Larry Steed, senior vice president of operations, Tanner Health System.

Susan Fox, vice president of operations, Tanner Medical Group, added, “Tanner Medical Group has a tentative closing date of May 21 with the Wedowee Clinic, which will occupy the Tanner/East Alabama facility when complete.”
