Greg Moncus

(CRAGFORD) The funeral for Greg Moncus, 55, of Cragford was Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South), Wadley, with the Rev. Alan Hurst and the Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Moncus passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga.

A lifelong resident of Clay County, he graduated in 1984 from Mellow Valley High School. Greg worked as a truck driver for most of his life and was recently working at Kelly Trucking. He loved his family and helping anyone he could. Greg was always tinkering and fixing whatever he could get his hands on, if he could find a way to rig it up, he would or just find a way to “MacGyver” it. He also enjoyed watching Alabama football and NASCAR races. Greg was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church (South).

He is survived by his mother, Marlene Moncus of Cragford; daughter, Allison Moncus Oliver (Austin) of Daviston; son, Patrick Cole Moncus of Micaville; granddaughter, Raylyn Oliver and one on the way, Naomi; sister, Michelle Thrift (Robert) of Section; brother, Ricky Moncus (Gail) of Mellow Valley; aunt or “second mother,” Charlene Mask of Cragford; nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Albert Moncus.
