The planned convenience store at the corner of Main Street and Lebanon Street in Roanoke has been under construction for over two years.
The owner of a Main Street eyesore has told the City of Roanoke that the property should be cleaned up and looking nicer by this fall.
Owner Ken Patel told the Leader in a story dated July 31, 2024, that the convenience store on the corner of Main Street and Lebanon Street was scheduled to be completed and open by the end of that year.
Two years later the building is still only partially constructed, and the area that would be the parking lot remains unpaved dirt. The drawn-out construction and unfinished look to the property have been a source of frustration for residents and city officials alike as it is one of the most visible properties on one of the city’s main thoroughfares.
But Roanoke mayor Adam Melton told the Roanoke City Council Monday that the planned service station and convenience store is now on schedule to be open by the end of September.
