Jacobs posts statement congratulating Monroe on victory in House District 37 race
Randolph County Schools superintendent John Jacobs issued a statement late last night on his personal Facebook page congratulating Five Points mayor Jeff Monroe on winning the Republican nomination for State House District 37.
In an election that included voters from Randolph, Chambers and Lee Counties 4,391 voters cast ballots, and Monroe won by over 1,100 votes, a convincing victory.
“I would like to congratulate Jeff Monroe on his victory in the Republican runoff for Alabama House District 37. I look forward to working with Jeff as he prepares for the November general election,” Jacobs said in his statement.
“We ran a clean, respectful, and cordial campaign, and I am grateful for the friendship we developed throughout this process.
“As for me, God is not through with me here at Randolph County Schools. I truly love my job, the people I work alongside each day, and the students and staff we are privileged to serve. I remain committed to helping our schools and communities thrive.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me, encouraged me, and took the time to share your thoughts and concerns throughout this journey. May God bless each of you.”
Monroe will be a heavy favorite in the general election in November as he takes on Roanoke resident Michelle French, who ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
The final results from Tuesday’s runoff election, according the Alabama Secretary of State’s website.
