Robin Cottle (left) and Annie L. Awbrey Library director Margaret Calhoun make a presentation about the library for the Roanoke Garden Club.
The Roanoke Garden Club met on March 11, 2026, in the Parlor Room of the First Methodist Church. Delicious refreshments were provided by hostesses Delores Burgess and Joyce McKinney.
The meeting was called to order by President Nan Bonner. A brief business session was conducted.
Margaret Calhoun, Annie L. Awbrey Public Library Director, presented a very informative program on our local public library. The library has about 20,000 books for all ages and interests. There are seven computers available in the public computer lab. The library offers Storytime on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. from September through April. There is a summer reading program that closes with water slides and a party on the last day of the program. Lunch and Learn events are held in the library’s meeting room. A book club meets the last Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. More information on the Annie L. Awbrey Public Library is available at roanokealabama.org. Click under Departments, and then click on Library. You will find calendars of activities and information about using the Libby App for e-books.
Club members were reminded of the date and location of the April meeting, and the meeting was adjourned.
