County commissioners recognize Donna Young (third from left) for her time with the county.
At Monday’s meeting of Randolph County Commission, two county employees were recognized for their many years of service and upcoming retirement. Both employees received resolutions honoring their years of service. Donna Young went to work for the county in 1998 and worked in different offices. She is the current chief revenue clerk.
Jimmy Johnson started work with the county in 2012 as a jailer with the sheriff’s department and most recently carried inmates out to pick up trash on roads.
Commissioners wished both well in the future endeavors.
Road work amendment
Commissioners approved amending the county’s rebuild Alabama fiscal year 2024 plan to add striping on County Roads 103 and 5. It was noted striping must be put back on these roads due to the fact the stripes were there before any work was done.
In other business, the commission:
- Approved the 2025-26 wet county license fee with Commissioners Farr and Foster abstaining.
- Approved a new updated driveway pipe policy.
- Reappointed Vester Whitmore Jr. to the county water authority board to represent district 1.
- Announced the next workshop meeting will be at 3 pm on March 6.
- Heard from Sheriff David Cofield there are 73 inmates in the county jail, 60 male and 13 female.
- Agreed for the county engineer to establish a right-of-way encroachment policy.
