Woodland's Josie Cross pitched a no-hitter and had three hits in her team's 19-0 win over Wadley last week.

The Woodland Lady Bobcats started the week finding out that they were ranked in the top 10 in the state in Class 1A. They finished it by earning the right to host their area tournament at the end of the season.

Woodland posted convincing wins over Wadley and Talladega County Central to complete their area schedule in undefeated fashion and claim the top seed and home field advantage in the area tournament.

If the regular season is any indication that tournament, which will take place the first week in May, should present few challenges for the Lady Bobcats, who were ranked as the No. 10 team in the state in the most recent ASWA poll. Woodland has won its five area games against Wadley, TCC and Winterboro by a combined score of 87-0, with the closest game coming in Thursday’s 12-0 win over TCC.

Woodland is now 13-13-2 on the season.
