Area tournament play begins next Tuesday for all four county softball teams. RCHS will be the lone county school to host its area tournament as the other three teams will have to travel. Here are the schedules, locations and first-round matchups for all four tournaments


The 1A, Area 8 tournament will take place at Woodland Park in Calhoun County beginning Tuesday at noon. Wadley is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will take on Faith Christian in the first round.

Second round games will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the final games taking place Wednesday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.


Ranburne will host the 2A, Area 9 tournament, where Woodland will be the No. 2 seed. The Lady Bobcats will play Ohatchee in the first round at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The championship games will take place Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.


RCHS will be the No. 1 seed in the 3A, Area 7 tournament. The Lady Tigers will take on B.B. Comer in the first round at 2 p.m. Tuesday at French Park in Wedowee.

If RCHS wins its first-round game, all of its remaining games will be Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m.


The 4A, Area 9 tournament will take place at Lincoln. Handley is the No. 3 team in the tournament and will play Cleburne County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in its first-round game.

There will be an elimination game Tuesday night at 8 p.m., and the remainder of the tournament will be completed Thursday and Friday.
