Clay Central got eight touchdowns from seven different players as the unbeaten and top-ranked Volunteers cruised to a 55-6 win over Elmore County.
Central poured it on from the start and never let up as it built a 55-0 lead and was able to go deep into its bench to secure its fourth straight win to start the season.
The win extends the Vols’ winning streak to 13 games dating back to last season, tying the longest such streak in school history.
Elisha McNeil and Boyd Ogles led a prolific Central offensive attack that amassed nearly 500 yards of total offense. McNeil rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, while Ogles went 10-for-17 for 182 yards and a score through the air. Ogles also added 37 yards and two rushing touchdowns for the Vols.
Jakheim McLemore, Terry Heflin, Clay Yates, Denzel McNeil and Davion Thomas all crossed the goal line for Central as the Vols remained tied atop the Class 5A, Region 4 standings.
Central will travel to Beauregard this week in search of its school-best 14th straight win.
