(ROANOKE) The funeral for Carolyn Cantrell Fields, 73, of Roanoke will be Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Highway Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Owens and the Rev. Thomas Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Mrs. Fields will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.
Mrs. Fields died Tuesday, Sept. 1, at her residence.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Fields was born April 5, 1947, the daughter of Herman Viron and Katie Belle Scott Cantrell. She was a member of Highway Congregational Methodist Church and worked as a supervisor for Bremen-Bowdon Investments.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Benford Fields of Roanoke; son, Kenny Fields (wife, Sandra) of Roanoke; grandchild, Jarred Dakota Fields; three sisters, Annette Sinns of Hogansville, Ga., and Louree Richardson and Annie Ruth Dye, both of Woodland; and two brothers, Earl Cantrell of Sandy Springs, Ga., and Viron Cantrell of Woodland. Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Emory, Rance and Ussery.
Pallbearers will be Koty Fields, Tony Richardson, Mark Richardson, Mike Hester, Jeff Cantrell and Joey Fields.
