(ROANOKE) The funeral for Hilton Sparks Wallace, 96, of Roanoke will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. before services begin.

Mr. Wallace passed away Sunday, June 23, at his residence.

A longtime Randolph County resident, Mr. Wallace was born in Lineville on Dec. 1, 1922, the son of Robert Milford and Lola Ophelia McKay Wallace. He was a retired lieutenant colonel for the U.S. Army, where he served in World War II and the Korean conflict. Mr. Wallace attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his two daughters, Barbara Burroughs of Roanoke and Terry Lynn Hooper (husband, Walter) of Spring City, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Auburn Brasher (husband, Jeffery) of Rome, Ga., Walter Hooper IV (wife, Linda) of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Will Hooper (fiancŽe, Katie) of Atlanta; sister, Lola Foy Saxon of Graham; and two brothers, Rex Wallace of Newell and Wayne Wallace of Northport. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 72 years, Annie Laurie Wallace; son-in-law, Bobby Burroughs; two brothers and seven sisters.

Pallbearers will be Walter Hooper IV, Will Hooper, Jeff Brasher, Rance Wallace, Phil Waldrop and Russ Wallace.
