(ATHENS, Ga.) The funeral for Beatrice H. Garrett, 89, of Athens, Ga., will be at noon on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Florence officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Roanoke.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.
Mrs. Garrett passed away Saturday, March 27, at her home.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Garrett was born Jan. 9, 1932, the daughter of Herman W. and Eris Shaw Hester. She was a sewing machine operator for Playtex and other apparel manufacturing for 12 years. She also worked at Chris-Gay Clothing and retired from Dr. Primm's office. She loved cooking and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Jarrell Jackson "Jackie" Garrett Jr. (Allison) of Athens; two grandchildren, Jarrell Jackson Garrett III and Lauren Eris Barnett (Shaun), both of Athens; three great-grandchildren, Sam Oliver Tracy, Brady Barnett and Millie Barnett, all of Athens; sisters, Juanita Burger (Trice) and Annis McKay, both of Macon, Ga., and Sara Steingraber (Doug) of Woodstock, Ga.; and brother, Jimmy Hester (Leola) of LaGrange, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jarrell Jackson Garrett Sr.; sister, Helen Blankenship; and brother, Allen Hester.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Awbrey, Chris Baltes, Josh Fountain, John Hester, Jesse McKay and Paul McKay.
