(ROANOKE)Eria Mae Hughley, 78, a longtime resident of Heflin Avenue, Roanoke, died Friday evening, Jan. 29, 2021, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Viewing will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Gardens in the Welch community with Elder Timothy Wright officiating. Ms. Hughley was born in Chambers County on March 25, 1942, to the late Sammie Lee Hughley Sr. and Eris Bonner Hughley. She attended Randolph County Training School. She was a dedicated and longtime member of East Roanoke Pure Holiness Church. Ms. Eria devoted her life to raising and loving her eight children and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren they blessed her with. She devoted 48 years to providing her service as a housekeeper for Bill and Sandra Vinson.
She is survived by her five sons, James Hughley, Alan Hughley, Charles Hughley, Jimmy Hughley and Malito Hughley, all of Roanoke; two daughters, Cindy Dennis of Fairburn, Ga., and Contina Thomas of Roanoke; brother, Sammie Lee Hughley of Atlanta; five sisters, Flora Hughley of Atlanta, Katie Thomas, Alma Owensby, Barbara Thomas and Priscilla Allen, all of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; special family, Sandra and Todd Vinson; and other kindred and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Burnett.
