(TALLADEGA) Bessie Williamson Smith, 83, passed away Sept. 7, 2021.

The funeral service for Maw Maw Bess was at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Tommy Strickland and Jeffrey Oliver officiating. Burial was at Pine Hill Memorial Park, Talladega.

She drank steaming hot coffee on warm days and spent time crocheting, sewing and hemming for her friends, neighbors and loved ones. Maw Maw Bess loved attending Marvelous Monday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a member of Valley Grove congregation. She was retired from CM Offray in Anniston.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Wyatt, Kathy Beverly and Kecia Hullett (Steve); beloved stepchildren, Judy Mecham (Dick), Charles Smith (Jan), Glenn Smith (Frankie) and Dave Smith (Serena); grandchildren, Brad Cooper (Alana), Dallas Cooper (Teran), Cassie Chandler (Spencer Bridges), Lacey Macon (Steven), Jeffrey Oliver and Dylan Hullett; sisters, Lemerle Murphy and Eunice Dover; 10 great-grandchildren; and host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jim and Arah Williamson of Wedowee; and siblings, AZ Williamson, Bertha Dampier, Etheridge Williamson, Bruce Williamson, Willie Pearl Gosdin, Dessie Holt and Fred Williamson.
