(RICH SQUARE, N.C.) Lura Maudine Holloway Wheeler, 96, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at Rich Square Health Care Center of Rich Square, N.C.

A celebration of life memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 24, at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, with son-in-law Larry W. Estes and grandson Bobby Lassiter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Wheeler was born Oct. 21, 1922, to Ettus George and Berdie Lou Nelson Holloway in Randolph County, Ala. "Granny," as she was affectionately known, was an excellent seamstress. She loved to cook and always made recipes her own. Granny loved gardening and making her porcelain dolls. Her most important and favorite thing was time spent reading her Bible and meditating with the Lord. Another important part of her life was sharing with others the fruits of her labor that she made with her hands. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Lura is survived by her son, James Johnnie Henry Jr. (Sandra) of Newnan, Ga.; two daughters, Linda Ann Henry Lassiter Coffield (Roger) of Conway, N.C., and Sylvia Henry Estes (Larry W.) of Hogansville, Ga.; sister, Hallie Faye Bridgers Waldbart (Bob) of Fletcher, N.C.; six granddaughters, Nicole Cross of Newnan, Brittany Garrett of Memphis, Tenn., Tammie Jo Lassiter Osborne (Rene') of Franklin, Tenn., Leigh Ann Coffield Martin (Jason) of Woodland, N.C., and Jennifer Estes Lambert and Allison Estes Davis, both of Hogansville; four grandsons, Jonathan Clinton Henry of Dallas, Ga., Jason Parrish Henry (Bridgette) of Newnan, Robert "Bobby" Glenn Lassiter (Mamie Brown) of Morristown, Tenn., and Joshua Stephen Garrett (Caitlin) of McDonough, Ga.; 10 great-granddaughters, Morgan Garner, Ashley Garner, Kinsey Henry, Jessica Atkins (Scott), Jordan Henry, Jordan Christine Osborne, Anna Jo Osborne, Sara Maigen Lambert, Macie Olivia Lambert, Abigail Victoria McCollough, Dallas Tillery, Remi Gammel and Charlotte Garrett; and nine great-grandsons, Jonathan Henry, Chad Lassiter (Jacy), Zach Lassiter (Ashton), Seth Lassiter, Caleb Osborne, Trenton Martin, Caden Martin, Grayson Daniel Lambert, Connor Davis and Bo Tillery; one great-great-grandson, Davie Baber; and one great-great-granddaughter, Hazel Henry, along with a host of extended family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Johnny Henry Sr.; second husband, Noah Kendall Wheeler; son, Ronald "Ronny" Ettus Henry; and sisters, Thelma Smith and Erma Holloway.
