(ROANOKE) The funeral for Larry Winfred Houze, 84, of Roanoke was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Ray Weaver and Billy Allen officiating. Burial followed at Randolph Memory Gardens.

Mr. Houze died Aug. 28 at Tanner-East Alabama in Wedowee.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Houze was born June 21, 1937, the son of Winfred Virgil and Virginia Lee Pike Houze. He was an Army veteran and a member of Rock Mills Methodist Church and had retired after working 39 years as a mechanic with Playtex.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Crockett Houze of Roanoke; daughter, Laura Allen (Rick) of Auburn; three grandchildren, Justin Allen (Jessica), Anslee Haygood (Brian) and Christian Allen; and three great-grandchildren, Reynolds Haygood, Colson Allen and Channing Haygood. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darryl Houze; and sister, Gloria Cowen.

Pallbearers were Justin Allen, Christian Allen, Brian Haygood, Jerry Conley, Virgil Veal and Roger Arnett.
