(PENSACOLA, Fla.) Avery Morrison, 92, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, succumbing to a series of strokes experienced several months earlier. Her husband of 75-plus years, Bill Morrison, was at her bedside.
A celebration of life service will take place in Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church, Pensacola, on Friday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m., Drs. Barry Howard and Dave Snyder officiating.
A time of visitation will occur one hour prior at 10:00, again in the chapel.
For their Alabama friends and family members, a graveside service will take place at Corinth Cemetery near Wedowee on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m.
Avery was born Avery Gaston in Wedowee on Oct. 16, 1928. Avery and Bill were students at Randolph County High School and married at age 17. She was formerly employed at Higgins Slacks in Lineville before completing cosmetology school and becoming a beautician. Avery and Bill have been residents of Pensacola since 1972. She was a member of Pensacola First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
Avery is survived by her husband, Bill Morrison; son, Bob (Annette) of Pensacola; grandsons, Jeremy of Pensacola and Landon (Natalie) of Boston; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two sons, Billy and Jimmy; parents, Marvin and Emma Gaston; brothers, Bill, J.M. and Mallory; sisters, Annie and Zelphia Mae; and granddaughter-in-law, (ReBecca).
