A memorial service for Thomas Waymon Paul, 84, will be Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Cahaba Heights. The family will receive guests one hour before the service. Burial will be in Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 12:30 p.m.

Mr. Paul passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021.

He was born Jan. 4, 1937, to the late Thomas Lester and Alice Gantt Paul in Dothan. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor of science in forestry. He married Roberta Haynes in Woodland in 1960. He served active duty in the army from 1960-1963 at the rank of captain as a helicopter pilot. He was employed by the State of Alabama Forestry Commission as a state forester. In 1969, he was employed by First National Bank of Birmingham, which became AmSouth Bank (now Regions). He retired in 2005 from AmSouth Bank as vice president and senior forester in the Natural Resources Department. He enjoyed farming in Randolph County, hunting and fishing in his leisure.

He is survived by his children, Thomas Terrel Paul (Bonnye), Alice Lynn Ireland (Glenn) and James Crawford Paul (Laura); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Becky Ruff. Waymon was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alice Paul; wife, Roberta Haynes; and granddaughter, Charlotte Kate Paul.
