(LINEVILLE) The funeral for Edene Worthy Hanners, 87, of Lineville was Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Long and the Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial followed at Shiloh Lineville Cemetery.

Mrs. Hanners died Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Clay County Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Clay County. She was married to James Larkin Hanners for more than 60 years and was his caregiver for the last seven years of his life. She enjoyed crosswords, gardening, flowers and old TV shows. She was blessed to live at her home until she was 85. She spent the last three years at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Raughton (Larry) of Woodland, Cathy Davis of Delta and Patsy Clevenger (Samuel) of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hanners Knight of Lineville; sister, Bobbie Willingham of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, Brian Raughton, Chasity Sexton, Lance Raughton, Dusty Davis, Clint Davis, Stephanie Pantana, Maggie Hanners, Micah Clevenger and Mallory Hanners; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Grady Worthy and Effie Edene Green Worthy; husband, James Larkin Hanners; son, Jimmy Hanners; son-in-law, Dale Davis; grandson, Matthew Hanners; two sisters and five brothers.
