(JASPER) The Rev. Tex Lee Ergle, 75, of Jasper died Jan. 26, 2021, from COVID-related causes.

A graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at North Oakhill Cemetery in Jasper with Dr. Glenn D. Conner and the Rev. Mike Stonbraker officiating.

He served as a Methodist minister for 47 years, serving churches in Oneonta, Hatton, Wedowee, Albertville, Anniston and Roanoke, prior to going to Jasper in 2002. He was born to James R. and Carlee Hood Ergle in Winston County on March 26, 1945. He was a graduate of Cash High School, Cash, Ark., Snead College, the University of North Alabama, Candler School of Theology at Emory University and did doctoral studies at Columbia Seminary. He was a proud USAF Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Regina Warren Ergle; daughter, Sarah Ergle Baumhoff (Kenneth) of Acworth, Ga.; sister, Joyce Mills of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother, Gary Ergle of Pekin, Ill.; brother-in-law, Dale Weaver of Jonesboro, Ark.; two grandsons, Adam and Andrew Baumhoff; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Ergle Jr. and Jimmy Ergle; and sister, Rose Weaver.
