(ROANOKE) William Danny Jones passed peacefully at his home in Roanoke on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021.

Born in Ashland on Feb. 15, 1953, Danny grew up in Millerville, Clay County, and Sylacauga, Talladega County, before graduating from Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City in 1971. Danny worked for many years for Winn-Dixie, and in 1979 opened the first Winn-Dixie in Roanoke as manager. His Winn-Dixie co-workers were like family to him and remained friends over the years. Danny and his wife Pam married in 1973 and enjoyed traveling, cooking out with friends, and spoiling their grandchildren.

Danny is survived by Pam; children, Amy Robertson (Bobby) and Andy Jones (Kay); grandchildren, Jack and Addie Robertson and Connor Jones, all of Auburn; brother, Randy Jones, and sister, Betty Rhodes of Alexander City; mother-in-law, Jessie Worrell of Roanoke; brother- and sister-in-law, Mike and Fran Worrell of Alexander City; and a multitude of friends from work, his hunting club and First United Methodist Church of Roanoke.

Due to COVID, a small family service will be held in the FUMC Roanoke Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m.
