(LANETT) John F. Dunn Jr., 85, of Lanett passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, in Roanoke.

The funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. EDT at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, Ga. The Rev. John Brogdon will officiate.

John's family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Mr. Dunn was born April 18, 1936, in Five Points to the late John Sr. and Irene McKinney Dunn. John was of the Baptist faith. He was one of the founding fathers of Springwood School and active in Springwood athletics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for two years in Germany. He then went on to join the National Guard and was active during the Civil Rights Movement. He was the owner / operator of Holiday Exxon in Lanett for over 35 years. He had a great smile and an amazing wit and loved to make others laugh. One of his favorite things to do was to take his family to Disney World.

John is survived by his daughters, Marie Dunn Ward (Greg), Alison Dunn (Chrystie) and Jenny Dunn Eastridge (Charlie); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Jo Hollis (Harold) and Linda Brogden (Robert); brother-in-law, Porter Keeble; sister-in-law, Ann Spradlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Obereda Spradlin Dunn; sister, Nita Keeble; and brother, Tommy Spradlin.
