(ROANOKE) The funeral for Cathryn Gay Carroll Clark, 79, of Roanoke was Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at Roanoke First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Josh Hickman officiating. A private burial followed at Cedarwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, at The Oaks at Pooler in Pooler, Ga.

A Roanoke native, Mrs. Clark was born Nov. 12, 1941, the daughter of James Emmett and Annie Kate Gay Carroll. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and worked as an executive secretary at NASA for 42 years. Mrs. Clark was a member of the American Business Women's Association, UMW and Daughters of the Confederacy, and after moving back to Roanoke, the Magnolia Garden Club and Magazine Club.

Survivors include her two daughters, Cynthia Clark Massey of Savannah, Ga., and Terry Elizabeth Street of Eatonton, Ga.; son-in-law, Mark Street; and grandchild, Tyler Bennett Massey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Thomas Clark Jr.; two brothers, John Carroll and James Carroll; and sister, Carolyn Adams.
