(ROANOKE) George W. Melton Jr., 68, of Roanoke died Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at his residence.

Viewing will be Thursday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel in LaFayette.

Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Wadley (Abanda) with Pastor Douglas Jones Sr. and the Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating.

He is survived by his two daughters, LaDonia Bonner (Shoh) and Sandra Rene Foster (Anthony Abner), both of Roanoke; six siblings, Jonathan Melton (Sophia) of Calera, Cynthia Lee and Beverly Riggins (James), both of Vincent, Carolyn Boykins of Deer Lodge, Mont., Mattie Tilly of Orlando, Fla., and Mary Mitchell (Charles) of Detroit; six sisters-in-law, Charlotte Abner (Jesse), Cathy Whittington, Pricilla Hudson (Alford), Regina Smith, Jacquline Smith and Sandra Anderson (George); three brothers-in-law, Charles Smith (Sheryl), Michael Smith (Roberta) and John Smith; four grandchildren, Brianna Bonner, Ashley, Maurice and Shantavia Foster, all of Roanoke; great-granddaughter, Jordyn S. Edwards of Roanoke; special friend, Harold Whitlow of Roanoke; aunt, three uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
