(ROANOKE) Kenneth Johnson, 47, of Jackson Street, Roanoke, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, surrounded by family at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
The funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Riley Street. Burial followed at East Roanoke Cemetery.
Kenneth was born Sept. 10, 1972, in Roanoke to the late Melvinnie Ware Johnson and the late Roy Finch. He attended both Roanoke City Schools and Wadley High School. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. He was employed as a truck driver for Russell Do It Center, for Relintless building reels, at JAC Products in Franklin, Ga., and True Customs by Wayne (fine cabinets). Kenneth was a family man. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting and dogs -- breeding pit bulls.
He is survived by his sons, Damon Johnson (Shanna) of Villa Rica, Ga., and Kadarious Foster of Roanoke; three daughters, Lameka McCray and twins, Kanisha and Anisha Johnson, all of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Ziare Foster and Arianne Foster, both of Roanoke, and Niabi Johnson of Villa Rica; special friend, LaTonya Hughley of Anniston; two brothers, Tracy Johnson and Leroy Finch; and sister, Debbie Johnson of Roanoke; many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his two brothers, Derrick Johnson and Perry Ware; and sisters, Phyllis Johnson McCray and Johnnie McCory.
