(ROANOKE) The funeral for Russell Monroe Huddleston, 90, of Roanoke will be Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Woodland, with Bro. Matt Browning and Bro. Clayton Scott officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday before services begin.

Mr. Huddleston passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 15, at his home.

A Woodland native, Mr. Huddleston was born July 6, 1931, the son of Wylie M. and Mammie Henry Huddleston. He was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, where he was an R.A. leader for many years and loved the youth of the church. Mr. Huddleston also laid the rocks for the Rocky Branch church sign by hand. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and retired from 22 years of military service.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Rollins Huddleston of Roanoke, and brother, Wylie M. Huddleston of Saraland. Mr. Huddleston was preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell M. Huddleston Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Rollins, Eli Rollins, Tracy Belyeu, Toby Clark, Bob McCoy and Rick Martin.
