(TEMPLE HILLS, Md.) John Samuel Bailey, 68, of Temple Hills, Md., died Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Clinton's Nursing Home in Baltimore.
Viewing will be Thursday, June 11, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service, Roanoke.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 12, at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, 9149 County Rd. 26, Wadley, with Elder Thomas Knight officiating.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Olin and Ocie Mae Bailey. He was a member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Bailey worked in pulpwood and logging for a while. Later he moved to Maryland, where for more than 20 years, he worked in construction and could be called a jack-of-all-trades. He operated cranes and other heavy equipment like backhoes and bulldozers. As a result of his hard work, he earned good money during those years.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his son, Anthony J. Bailey; daughter, Maleesa Ann Hurston of Huguley; special friend, Doris Sellman of Temple Hills; special niece, Regena Gutierrez of Huguley; two stepsisters, Peggy Ross and Annie Ruth Alexander, both of Hampton, Ohio; other relatives. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John Henry Bailey, Johnny Lewis Thompson, Booker T. Bailey, Willie Frank Bailey; and a sister, Thelma Lewis.
