(MORRISON'S CROSSROADS) The funeral for Fairy Morrison Stewart, 101, of Morrison's Crossroads will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Halsey officiating. A private family graveside service will be held in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday. Mrs. Stewart will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Mrs. Stewart died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 8, at her residence.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Stewart was born May 30, 1918, the daughter of Arthur and Nannie Cofield Morrison. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, and she and her husband served the community as owners/operators of Stewart's General Merchandise for over 40 years.

Survivors include her husband, Byrd Stewart of Morrison's Crossroads; two daughters, Peggy Bullard (David) of Birmingham and Polly Goodwin (Bill) of Aliceville; three grandchildren, Brandy Huey (Derrick), Brook Corlett (Jack) and Will Goodwin (Ashley); and five great-grandchildren, Sammy Huey, Joshua Corlett, Noah Corlett, Emma Lockhart and Carter Lockhart. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cofield, Wayne Wortham, Bobby Cofield, Billy Edwards, Richard Craft and Joe Wilkerson.

The family gives special thanks to caretakers Deonne Parmer and Diane Shepherd, as well as Sarah Carter of Alabama Hospice.
