(ROANOKE) William Marvin Dillard, 64, of Roanoke died Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at Piedmont Columbus Northside Hospital, Columbus, Ga.
William was the son of the late Edward Marvin Dillard and Ola Bell (King) Dillard. He was born Feb. 6, 1958, in Dalton, Ga. He graduated from Dalton High and attended Jacksonville State University where he was a member of the football team. He continued his formal education at the Twin States Extension Unit of American Baptist College in Nashville.
After working with Miliken Manufacturing Company and the Athletic Attic, William joined the LaGrange Police Department. Ultimately he accepted a job with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department. He served for many years as Chief Deputy for Randolph County.
A member of First Baptist Church, he pastored Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Wedowee and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in the Bacon Level Community.
Pastor Dillard was preceded in death by three siblings: Lachrissia Dillard Macon, Terry Dillard, Rebecca Dillard; and a brother-in-law, Harold Walton. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Daffie Marie Magby Dillard; three sons,Maurice Stefan Dillard, Adrian Cullen Dillard and Christopher Marvin Dillard, all of Roanoke; a sister, Suzanne Walton of Dalton, Ga.; a loving granddaughter, Ariana Dillard of Roanoke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
