(JONESBORO, Ga.) The celebration of life service for Marie Cofield Collier will be Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. EDT at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Standing Rock. Pastor Trammell will officiate.

Mrs. Collier died June 21 in the home of her son, Ronald, and his wife, Reba, who both lovingly cared for her.

Mrs. Collier was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Chambers County to William Cofield Sr. and Gussie Atkinson Cofield. She joined Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until failing health forced her to relocate to Jonesboro. The last several years, she attended New Vision Church in Fayetteville, Ga. She served in the Missionary Society, Matron Board and as advisor to the District's Boys Crusaders. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a dedicated member of the Rochelle Federated Club, the local chapter of the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs Inc. Her professional career spanned over 20 years as a licensed practical nurse working in both hospital and nursing home facilities. She also assisted with the care of each of her siblings during their period of healthcare needs.

She is survived by her sons, William Collier (Deborah) of Anniston and Ronald Collier (Reba) of Jonesboro; stepson, Hilt Collier of LaGrange, Ga.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Collier; sisters, Amanda Dean and Izora Griggs; brothers, William Cofield Jr. and Nimmie Cofield; stepsons, Rev. Jimmy L. Collier and Bobby Collier.
