(FRANKLIN, Ga.) Dustin Brooks Shelnutt, 38, of Franklin, Ga., died Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
The funeral will be Thursday, June 6, at 3 p.m. EDT in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Church of Christ Cemetery in Woodland, Ala.
The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Thursday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. EDT.
Dustin was born Oct. 17, 1980, in Newnan, Ga., to Troy Brooks Shelnutt and Paulette Wessinger Fricks. He was Pentecostal by faith and a graduate of Heard County High School (Class of 1999). He had a large collection of classic Hot Wheels and also enjoyed attending car shows. He briefly studied culinary arts and then entered the work force as a short order cook. One of his specialties was blackened fish, for which he mixed his own recipe of spices. He especially liked to catch his own fish to prepare for a delicious meal.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Paulette Fricks (Lamar) of Carrollton, Ga.; father, Brooks Shelnutt of Franklin; brother, Cory Paul Shelnutt of Franklin; a niece and nephew; stepsister, Christy Prince of Carrollton; two stepbrothers, Tom Fricks of Temple, Ga., and Jeff Fricks of Marietta, Ga.; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Hope Shelnutt.
