(ROANOKE) James L. Phillips, 91, of Roanoke died Saturday, June 13, 2020, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wadley with Pastor Marian Royston and the Rev. William Phillips officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Mary H. Phillips; children, Annie L. Whatley (Stephen) of Washington, D.C., Willie Phillips (Sarah), Minister Luther Phillips, Calvin Phillips, Ricky Heflin, Rodney Heflin and Reginald Heflin, all of Roanoke, James Phillips Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Md., Lynn Heflin of Auburn and Lisa Smith of Atlanta; sister, Elsie White of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Willene Phillips of LaGrange, Ga., and Betty Phillips of Atlanta; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones; caregiver, Glenda Caldwell; and neighbor, Greg Combs (Detra).
