(CARROLLTON, Ga.) Robert Jones Hooton Jr., 57, of Carrollton, Ga., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. EST.
The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. EST at Carrollton First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Ashmore and Dr. Steve Davis officiating. Interment will be in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
Robert was born in LaGrange, Ga., on July 28, 1962, the son of the late Robert "Bobby" Jones Hooton Sr. and Elizabeth Pruitt Hooton. Robert grew up in Roanoke, graduated from Auburn University and went on to the University of West Georgia, where he received his master's degree. He retired from the Department of Juvenile Justice as a caseworker and was a member of Southern Hills, the Church at City Station. Robert was a kind, gentle, loving, caring and humble man who put God first in his life. He adored Allison, Hutch and Hudson. His extended family and friends meant the world to him.
Survivors include his wife, Allison M. Hooton; sons, Hutch Hooton and Hudson Hooton; sister, Leslie Hooton of Charlotte, N.C.; father- and mother-in-law, Steve and Sharon McLendon of Carrollton; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Jason McLendon (Amanda) and their sons, Jackson, Drew and Landon, and Andy McLendon (Kelly) and their daughter, Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Trae Bonner, Sandy Pitman, Craig Prestridge, Walter Tillman, Jimmy Brazeal, Hallman Bradshaw, Jason McLendon and Andy McLendon.
