(ROANOKE) The funeral for Grace Vernette Smith, 83, of Roanoke will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Paul Sheppard and Sis. Denise White officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, Oct. 22, at her home.

A Randolph County resident for most of her life, Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 13, 1938, in LaGrange, Ga., the daughter of James Barner and Artie Lou Brown Fincher. She was a member of Handley Avenue Church of God and had been employed as an inspector with Handley Mills.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Smith Nunnally of Roanoke; two sons, Johnny Dudley Smith (Ann) and Ronnie Smith (Sharon), both of Roanoke; two sisters, Linda Thomas and Norma Farrar, both of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Dudley Smith; granddaughter, Tennille Smith; two sisters, Voncile Cummings and Barbara Blackmon; and brother, Donnie Fincher.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Nunnally, Michael Nunnally, Timothy Nunnally, Matthew Nunnally, Lee Cameron and Jordan Cameron.
