(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Peggy Knight Thrasher, 83, of Wedowee will be Thursday, June 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Larry Wortham, Rev. Jonathan Hannah and Stanley Pethel officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday. Mrs. Thrasher will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Mrs. Thrasher died Tuesday, June 18, at her residence.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Thrasher was born March 21, 1936, the daughter of Hoyt and Eunice Sheppard Knight. She was a member of Iduma Congregational Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Pethel (husband, Stanley) of Carrollton, Ga.; two sons, David Thrasher (wife, Renea) of Winston, Ga., and Billy Joe Thrasher (wife, Jana) of Roanoke; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Werner of Newnan, Ga. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Thrasher; son, Chuck Thrasher; three brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Wortham, Eugene Wortham, Chester Wortham, Wendell White, Phillip Wortham and Terry Sheppard.
