(FIVE POINTS) The funeral for Bobby Gene Laster, 79, of Five Points will be Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Claude Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday. Mr. Laster will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Friday.

Mr. Laster died Monday, Sept. 9, at his residence.

A Chambers County native, Mr. Laster was born April 20, 1940, the son of Henry Houston and Mary Elizabeth Bradley Laster. He was a member of Community Baptist Church and was a welder. Mr. Laster loved his farm animals, including emus, goats, chickens and pigs and was well known for selling watermelons.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Laster of Five Points; two daughters, Barbara Ann Laster of Rock Mills and Brenda Sue Hammock (Chris) of Wedowee; two sons, Robert Gene Laster (Amy Brock) of Palmetto, Ga., and Terry Lee Laster (Jennifer) of Roanoke; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara Freeman and Shirley Yates, both of Plant City, Fla.; and brother, H.J. Laster of Franklin, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Judith Ann Laster.

Pallbearers will be Robert Laster, Phillip Laster, Andrew Hammock, Jacob Laster, Terry Laster, Justin Craig, Jess Craig and Charlie Garey.
