(WOODLAND) The funeral for Mary Marable Herren, 80, of Woodland will be Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mrs. Herren died Monday, Jan. 11, at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Ga.
A Roanoke native, Mrs. Herren was born March 3, 1940, the daughter of Garfield and Joyce Mackey Marable. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a lay speaker and served as an usher for many, many years, and worked as a press operator for 30 years at Lamar Manufacturing and 15 years at Traylor's Nursing Home. Mrs. Herren enjoyed reading and quilting in her free time and loved her family very much.
Survivors include four children, Terry Herren (Helgard) of Germany, Christopher Herren (Joeann) of Carrollton, Ga., Greg Herren (Pam) of Roanoke and Jennifer Weaver (Jessie Weaver) of Villa Rica; two brothers-in-law, Elvin Henson of Heflin and Amos Dyer of Bowdon, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rosie Ware of Ashland, Patsy Simpson (Frank) of Chicago and Sara Gray of Maywood, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie Herren; daughter, Sylvia Jordan; brothers, Eunice Sims, James Marable and John Marable; and sister, Linda Dyer.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Herren's grandsons and nephews.
