(ROANOKE) James Curtis "Jake" "J.C." Houston, 80, of Roanoke died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City.

The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at Rock Mills Baptist Church with Pastor L.B. Houston and Rev. Jerone Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be Friday, Feb. 5, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service.

Mr. Houston was born Feb. 23, 1940, to the late Willie Joe and Eleanor Bell Houston. Jake worked for more than 30 years at Randolph County Hospital, Wedowee Hospital, Candlewick Yarns, Amoco Fabrics and Fibers and McDonald's and his personal business as "Watermelon Man" and "Barrel Man." He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his son, James Curtis "Jamie" Houston Jr. (Jessica); three grandchildren, Jamison Houston, Jekell Houston and JaKayla Houston; brother, Pastor L.B. Houston; two sisters, Sara H. Bonner of Roanoke; and Alfredia H. Richardson of Newnan, Ga. Jake was preceded by his parents, Willie Joe and Eleanor Bell Houston; four brothers, Willie Freddie Houston, David Lee Houston, Cyclenycle Gene Houston and Eddie Moses Houston; two sisters, Mary Joe Houston and Shelia Ann H. Rachel; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
