(ROANOKE) Mamie Lee Wilkerson Hines, 96, of Roanoke died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Traylor Retirement Community.

A graveside service was Monday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Gardens in the Welch community.

Mrs. Hines was born Dec. 7, 1924, to the late Tollie and Emma Crowder Wilkerson in Chambers County's Hickory Flat community. She was married to the late Henry Clay Hines. Mrs. Mamie performed domestic work in private homes, the public school and the health care industry. She worked for J.H. Owens, Knight-Enloe Elementary School lunchroom and Traylor's Nursing Home. Mrs. Hines was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, where she served as financial secretary and in the matrons' department.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Parker (James Jr.), and son, Donnie Hines, both of Roanoke; three stepsons, Elton Hines, Michael Gates and Henry Clay Hines Jr.; five stepdaughters, Cynthia Thorpes, Connie Young, Shirley Garner, Franchesca Hines Guellett and Alfreda Morris; five grandchildren, Tracy Rice, Leslie Hines, Krissy Byrdsong, Cordarious Clay Hines and Llewellyn Andrew Hines; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Oscar Wilkerson, Fred Ellis Wilkerson and Mallie Wilkerson, and sister, Minnie Clyde Wilkerson.
